University Career Services Committee

Career services at The Ohio State University are decentralized, which means multiple career services office exist on campus that serve different target populations of students and alumni.  These offices also employ varying recruiting policies and procedures when assisting employers with candidate search; they also maintain independent position posting systems linked through Buckeye Careers Network. The decentralized structure affords students and employers more personalized services with professionals who have a thorough understanding of their clients' needs.

To help address challenges presented by the decentralized structure, University Career Services Committee (UCSC) was created in 1978 to provide a structured organization for collaboration and professional development among the various career services professionals on campus.  Membership is comprised of colleges and academic units on the Columbus and regional campuses.

Mission Statement

University Career Services Committee (UCSC) is an organization of university professionals committed to responding to the career development needs of students at The Ohio State University. UCSC members exchange ideas and coordinate the dissemination of career-related information and events.

UCSC supports the professional development and promotes the value of the combined talent of its members. Through its unified voice, UCSC advocates policy resulting in practices that enhance the total educational experience of the students at The Ohio State University.

Member Services Team
Purpose: To recruit, orient and retain UCSC members

Outreach/Advocacy Team
Purpose: To ensure the representation of UCSC in University and broader community activities and keep members informed of initiatives that impact career services

Intra-Office Communication Team
Purpose: To disseminate best practices amongst members and coordinate career services policy

Recognition and Professional Development Team                                                                                 Purpose: To manage the selection process and distribution of funds for the Professional Development Grant and the Career Services Award 

Student Services Team                                                                                                                            Purpose: To coordinate cross-college career-related events and resources 

Technology Team
Purpose: To maintain the UCSC website by editing the content as needed to ensure relevant and up-to-date information is available; review vendor solicitations

UCSC Professional Development Grant Recipients

Small grants are awarded to support career services staff members attending conferences and other professional training events. UCSC has contributed over $14,000 since 1995.
